Tamar Tchantchaleishvili, born on May 15, 1978, grew up in an artistic family where creativity and a love for art were an inseparable part of her life from an early age. Her childhood was filled with color, texture, and imagination — a foundation that shaped her distinctive voice as a contemporary artist.
She graduated from the Iakob Nikoladze Art School in 1998 and went on to complete her degree in Fine Arts at the Tbilisi State Academy of Arts, specializing in Theatre Design, in 2003. This formal education laid the groundwork for a multifaceted career that seamlessly blends classical techniques with modern artistic expression.
Tamar’s creative practice is diverse and experimental — ranging from oil, watercolor, gouache, and acrylic to bold explorations in pop-art techniques, book illustration, and artistic interior and exterior design. Her work often reflects an emotional dialogue between color and form, drawing viewers into deeply atmospheric, sometimes dreamlike spaces.
Her expertise in theatre set and costume design is particularly notable, with acclaimed productions such as “Snow,” “The Traveler’s Letters,” and “The Cherry Orchard” bearing her artistic signature. Her creative projects also includes designing interiors and exteriors for private and public spaces, as well as visually crafting music videos and branding concepts.
Between 2003 and 2008, Tamar Tchantchaleishvili shared her knowledge as a senior instructor and lecturer at the Institute of Culture, mentoring a new generation of designers in the disciplines of composition and design.
Since 2000, Tamar has participated in numerous group and solo exhibitions, both in Georgia and internationally. Her works have been exhibited at renowned spaces, including Vernisage, Blue Gallery, the Tbilisi History Museum “Karvasla,” and internationally through platforms like Saatchi Art, The Holy Art (UK) and Madatart New York Gallery. She has also collaborated with Off Evropa Festival and Behance, showcasing her adaptability and global appeal.
Today, Tamar Tchantchaleishvili’s works are part of private collections worldwide, from Georgia to Turkey and Japan, across the United States and European Union. Each piece resonates with her ongoing exploration of form, emotion, and the dialogue between tradition and modernity, making her art an ever-evolving journey of innovation and expression.
