Ekaterine Totladze

Living dates : 2001 - Present

Nationality : Georgian

Ekaterine Totladze, born in 2001 in Tbilisi, Georgia, is an emerging contemporary painter whose work reflects a thoughtful balance between academic precision and deeply personal expression. Currently completing her studies at the Tbilisi State Academy of Arts (2019–2025) and having enriched her education at the Academy of Fine Arts in Gdańsk, Poland (2023), she builds her artistic language on a strong technical foundation while constantly exploring new forms of visual storytelling. From her early years, Totladze has shown an exceptional ability to merge discipline with experimentation, creating works that speak both to intimate emotions and broader cultural narratives.

Her artistic practice is centered around painting, where she skillfully blends texture, form, and color to evoke layered and often introspective worlds. Each composition feels like a conversation between space and memory, an exploration of how perception and emotion shape our reality. The subtle complexity of her works invites viewers to pause, reflect, and experience the depth of her visual language, which draws equally from her immediate surroundings and her exposure to international influences.

Despite her young age, Totladze has already gained significant recognition in the art world. In 2024, she won first place in the British competition Golden Time Talent in the painting category, a milestone that affirmed her growing international presence. Her solo exhibitions, A Separate Space (2024) and White Noise (2023, Atenati Gallery), revealed her ability to craft powerful, immersive experiences through her art. Alongside her solo projects, she has participated in group and collaborative exhibitions, including the thought-provoking performance-based Spec-Nazi (2024), Untitled with Roko Iremashvili at Novo Gallery (2024) etc.

Her creative journey has also been shaped by international experiences, such as participating in the Spinnaker course Artist on the Move in Gdańsk (2023) and completing a residency at Lamigenolini in Como, Italy (2024). These opportunities have broadened her perspective, enriching her approach to both the conceptual and technical aspects of her practice and allowing her to weave global narratives into her distinctly personal vision.

Totladze’s art is a dialogue between introspection and universality. Her ability to translate fleeting thoughts and abstract emotions into compelling visual forms makes her work resonate deeply with diverse audiences. Balancing minimalism with intensity and subtlety with boldness, her evolving body of work reflects a constant search for meaning, offering a distinctive and powerful voice within the contemporary art scene.
