Deiko Alughishvili

Living dates : 1988 - Present

Nationality : Georgian

Deiko Alughishvili is a contemporary Georgian painter whose art radiates warmth and energy. Drawn to creativity from an early age, she quickly found that painting became her main form of self-expression. She studied at the Tbilisi State Academy of Arts, where she earned both her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Fine Arts and Graphic Arts (2005–2011). During these formative years, she refined her artistic language, balancing classical training with personal experimentation.

Over the years, young artist has presented her works in numerous exhibitions both in Georgia and abroad. She has held solo shows at the Tumanishvili Theatre (Christmas exhibition, 2017), Sfumato Gallery (2014), Château Mukhrani (2014), and the Georgian Government Chancellery on International Children’s Day (2010). Her works have also been featured in prominent group exhibitions, including Cadena Gallery (Chelsea, New York, 2016), MADATART Gallery (New York, 2016), the International Art Festival at The Highline Loft Gallery (New York, 2015), as well as at the National Art Museum Karvasla (Tbilisi, 2013), Vernisage Gallery (Tbilisi, 2013), and many others. These experiences reveal how her art resonates equally with Georgian and international audiences.

Her paintings captivate viewers at first sight. Rich color palettes, emotional depth, and a dreamlike atmosphere create a world where reality and imagination intertwine. The works stand out not only for their visual beauty but also for their layered emotional and philosophical undertones. Her style is marked by strong contrasts of light and shadow, bold color juxtapositions, and experimental approaches to space. On her canvases, one can sense both a touch of melancholy and a vibrant energy of life. It is precisely through this harmony of opposites that her unique artistic voice emerges, inviting the audience into a sincere dialogue.

Beyond painting, Alughishvili has also engaged in creative projects that demonstrate her versatility, including the PORSCHE Macan Box campaign (2014) and interior design for Yuka Kaiten Sushi restaurant in Baku, Azerbaijan. Earlier in her career, she participated in UNESCO’s intercultural dialogue and exchange program (2004) and TACIS-organized art initiatives (2009), highlighting her commitment to cultural dialogue.

Recognized early for her talent, she was awarded the Presidential Scholarship of Georgia as the Best Emerging Artist of the Year (2000–2001). Today, Deiko Alughishvili is regarded as one of the significant voices among contemporary Georgian artists. Her works continue to find their place not only in private collections but also on the international art scene, proving that modern Georgian painting is dynamically evolving and entering global conversations with confidence.
