Guram Khetsuriani

Living dates : 1986 - Present

Nationality : Georgian

Guram Khetsuriani is a Georgian painter whose artistic path was shaped early through both general and professional art education. He graduated from the Tbilisi State Academy of Arts in 2008, with a bachelor’s degree in fine arts (Painting). This academic foundation provided him with a strong command of traditional techniques, which he has since expanded into a distinctive painterly language that balances realism with a sense of poetic abstraction.

Khetsuriani’s paintings are characterized by a sensitive treatment of light, texture, and atmosphere. His canvases often evoke the layered memory of place, where natural landscapes and urban impressions merge into a lyrical dialogue. The artist’s brushwork, at once deliberate and fluid, conveys both precision and emotional depth. Through this interplay, he creates images that are not mere depictions of external reality but meditations on identity, belonging, and the passage of time. His works carry a visual rhythm that resonates with the folkloric and historical sensibilities of Georgia, yet speak in a universal artistic language.

Since 2005, Khetsuriani has exhibited widely in Georgia and abroad. His solo shows in Berlin (Germany) and Kaunas (Lithuania), as well as participation in major international events such as ART MIAMI and group exhibitions in New York (USA), have brought his work to diverse audiences and established his reputation beyond the Georgian art scene. These experiences reflect both the adaptability of his artistic voice and its resonance across cultures.

Khetsuriani’s strongest qualities lie in his ability to transform personal and collective memory into compelling visual narratives. His art reveals a painter who is not only skilled in form but also deeply attuned to the spiritual and emotional dimensions of experience. By bridging Georgian traditions with international perspectives, his paintings invite viewers into a space where the local and the global, the intimate and the monumental, converge. In this synthesis, Khetsuriani affirms his place as one of the noteworthy contemporary Georgian artists contributing to the broader discourse of painting today.
