Beka Svirava
Beka Svirava is a Georgian painter who graduated from the Tbilisi State Academy of Arts named after Apolon Kutateladze, where he completed both his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Easel Painting between 2004 and 2010. Rooted in a strong academic foundation, his artistic path has grown into a distinctive language that merges tradition with contemporary sensibilities, reflecting both personal expression and cultural identity.
Over the years he has participated in numerous exhibitions in Georgia and abroad, including solo and group shows in Georgia, Czech Republic, UK, Germany and Turkey. Notable exhibitions include his personal show “47 Hours” at the Georgian State Museum of Theatre, Music, Cinema and Choreography in 2014, as well as presentations at Riverside Studio in London, the Czech International Exhibition in Prague, and the Georgian Cultural Days in Turkey. These experiences established him as an active voice in the Georgian contemporary art scene.
Svirava’s painting “Nakhalovka in Winter” is preserved in the Georgian State Museum of Theatre, Music, Cinema and Choreography. Many of his works are held in private collections across the world, including Germany, England, Austria, the United States, Finland, the Czech Republic, Greece, India, Egypt, and Russia. This wide reach reflects the universal appeal of his art, which transcends geographical and cultural borders.
Svirava’s style is characterized by sensitivity to atmosphere, expressive use of color, and the transformation of everyday motifs into timeless compositions. He often uses muted tones, sometimes punctuated by deeper shadows or unexpected highlights. These contrasts are not just visual; they feel emotional—hope, solitude, nostalgia, the in-between moments of day and night. His brushwork seems deliberate but fluid: edges sometimes dissolve into suggestion rather than precise detail, giving many works a dream-like quality.
Beka Svirava captures both the intimate and the monumental with equal force, inviting the viewer into spaces of reflection and emotional resonance. Through this balance of technical mastery and personal vision, his work continues to contribute meaningfully to contemporary Georgian painting and to resonate with audiences internationally.
